I like this. My people have a third gender, known as muxe.

"muxe"? interesting. The only thing I've been able to find in terms of Native American gender studies talks about "berdaches".

Ah, yeah, I believe that is a term from French? Most Natives just say "two-spirit" but our specific gender is someone who is born a man but is third gendered, and may be with men or women (it's a bit hard to explain, but it's not equivalent to homosexual, just that it's another gender).

maybe transgender in western terms? without the societal need to pick one of the traditional genders?

Oh yes. Which reminds me that I probably need to get something good on it.

In all seriousness though, these look very interesting. I shall have to investigate them. Thank you!

No no no… Homosexuality was invented in the early 1980s by white men in New York and San Francisco as a direct attack on our Traditional Christian Family Values, and that’s why Jesus started giving them all AIDS….. And because we went against Jesus’ will and tolerated these people in our midst, Jesus allowed 9-11 to occur as a warning, Jerry Falwell said so before he died and went to hell

I think it’s easier to demonize homosexuals/bisexuals/transgendered people if you present it all as something new that these people invented, rather than a basic part of humanity that has always existed…

Well, Christianity was just invented by some dude 2000 years ago, for that matter.

Very true! Personally, I think Jesus the guy would be disgusted by the beliefs and actions of most of the people who have claimed to be his followers for the past couple thousand years…

Perhaps. But I think hellfire is kind of a vindictive concept no matter what, and hellfire metaphors were his favorite way to end a parable, despite some of his very liberal positions.

I have no idea how he'd feel about abortion, though, or homosexuality, or stem cells, or whatever. I'm not too crazy about there being this second world where making things needlessly hard in this world is justified.

My thoughts exactly. The Jesus guy had some good thoughts, and some bad ones as well.

Ya know, if it hadn't led to such tragic consequences, I could laugh all day at this reasoning.

Actually, in the grand spectrum of 10,000 years of recorded human history, homosexuality is relatively new, only being in use for about 200 years. In this I speak of the word, not the act. :)

I'm not sure when the actual word was invented, but I think its been in use since the 1830s.

And you're right about homosexuality only being attributed to effeminate white men (myself being one). John Amaechi said that when he came out, an elderly white woman came up to him and said something along the lines of, "I didn't know black people could be gay..."

True that. And the expression thereof varied wildly from culture to culture, apparently. And as for Mr. Amaechi, *shakes head*. At least she wasn't screaming abou the blood of Jesus being against him or something.
