EDIT: Reactions in random order:
Imran is a spoiled little brat.Should NEVER have been married so young, he OBVIOUSLY wasn't ready for it. Families' honor means more than the individual happiness of the individual. One wishes that the honor of the family rested more in the happiness of their sons and daughters rather than the "What will the neighbours think?" meme, but hey. Yelling about Jihad is NOT the best way to gain trust and acceptance in a foreign country. You can't ask for tolerance and then hint that as soon as you are numerically strong enough, you'll take over society by force. That's bullshit.
Punishments such as stoning, cutting off hands and other things have NEVER stopped people from breaking the law. Don't believe me? Then why are there STILL punishments going on in majority Muslim countries that practice sharia? It's a bad argument. The divorce laws favour the guys more than the girls. It can be too easily interpreted based on the tolerance level of the sheik involved. I like the idea of hearing both sides of the story. I also like the idea of counseling. What I don't like is that it seems that the woman has too much to lose and nearly always has to give more to the marriage than the guy. I am for egalitarianism myself. Either both people have the same ease in divorcing or both people have the same roadblocks in divorcing. All in all the sharia court do provide a needed service in the community. However, some of its traditions are a little antiquated. One hopes that with time, a more egalitarian point of view and less extreme punishments for behaviour will come to be accepted.
