This Alien Legacy: The Origins of "Sodomy" Laws in British Colonialism

>December 17, 2008

This 66-page report describes how laws in over three dozen countries, from India to Uganda and from Nigeria to Papua New Guinea, derive from a single law on homosexual conduct that British colonial rulers imposed on India in 1860. This year, the High Court in Delhi ended hearings in a years-long case seeking to decriminalize homosexual conduct there. A ruling in the landmark case is expected soon.

Yes!

I was watching this 'Undercover Princes' looking for love in the UK show (don't judge me, it was filmed in my hometown), and the gay Indian Prince took his boyfriend back to India, and they made all this fuss about how 'gay-friendly' Brighton is, and how sodomy is against the law in India, and I kept shouting at the screen 'YOU invented those laws arseholes! Let's not get self-righteous now'. But, as ever, the people on tv ignored my impassioned pleas.

And the girl who made off with the South African Prince had an argument with him, because she was proud of th accomplishments of the British Empire!!
