Breaking: gay-baiting campaign in Kansas tanks hopes for out lesbian candidate

What's the matter with Kansas (aside from the Phelps hate machine)? Apparently a candidate for the state house in District 84, Gail Finney, who wanted to prove her homophobic mettle by running an email and robo-call campaign to defeat Inga Taylor, an out lesbian. She succeeded. By the way, Finney is a Democrat. (GayPolitics.com): A last-minute, anti-gay smear campaign will keep Kansas from electing its first openly gay state legislator and America's first African-American lesbian state legislator. Inga Taylor, a Victory-Fund endorsee, had outraised and out-organized her opponent, Gail Finney. But Finney and her supporters launched a late mail, e-mail and phone campaign highlighting Taylor's sexual orientation and contributions to her campaign from the Victory Fund. Finney is the Vice-chair of the Sedgwick County Democratic Party.

Disgusting! After Taylor's put in the work, the best that Finney could do was poison the well using Taylor's sexuality???!?! And the voters responded! When or when will we learn that people's governing skills have NOTHING TO DO WITH WHOM THEY FUCK!!! You would THINK that with the many revelations of pious, upstanding, heterosexual stern-faced people whose masks have been torn off to reveal some really vile BS ...see recent Republican example of same: cheated on his wife and child molestation of the daughter of the one he cheated with), that we would be inured to the whole gay panic!!!! BS. And to pull that on your fellow party member? Dis. GUSTING! SHAME on you, Finney, for shame!

Oh, screw her. I hope the rest of her career is coloured by the fact that she used tactics like that, and that whatever she accomplishes in this role is overshadowed by the fact that she didn't deserve to win it.
