4. What, is HIV/AIDS a gay disease or something? Where did that come from in the debate?
I think this talking point has less to do with the link between HIV/AIDS and the GLBT community and more to do with the fact that many religious organizations and religious leaders have ignored HIV/AIDS and/or preached that if people would just stop having the sinful sex, then it would go away. I think they were trying to point out that Warren is a religious leader that seems to be passionate about finding a cure for HIV/AIDS as well as teaching prevention through the use of condoms, etc., and that is something that Obama agrees with him on, etc.
I'm not trying to justify the pick because I'm very disappointed by it myself. But, I think that specific point was made because its an area where Warren is getting something "right"—an area that many religious leaders still get "wrong."
