I think they're a good idea as well, but the dollar amount is painfully low. $12 per month for a woman with one child to eat and serve fresh fruits and vegetables? At the cost of said food items, it won't go far. A little is better than nothing, but not by much. Of course, I do like that the regular wic vouchers can now be used to purchase things like rice and tortillas instead of nothing but dairy, eggs, and juice.
Also, it only took me a few clicks (like: 3) to find the dairy, egg, and juice industries moaning about how this was a terrible injustice for their corporate interests and--get this-- BAD FOR PUBLIC HEALTH!!!
