Book recs!
Mar. 6th, 2008 01:46 pm(In order of what I like most of those books I've acquired recently).
Tangle a short story collection by Blindeye Books. Very good plots, POC in three, count 'em, threestories, lovely cover design, sci fi and fantasy, (including a great Beauty and the beast rewrite). 4 stars
Wicked Gentlemen by Ginn Hale. Her powers of description are great. The universe is bleak but the characters are lovely, and the relationship shines all the more because of the muck of that world. And the whole mix of fallen angels redeemed by the Church but degenerating over time was pretty cool. 4 stars.
Temptation by Jeff Palmer. A photography book featuring nude men in black and white.

alaana_fair triggered my interest in this photographer by introducing his latest work. I went back and bought all his books as a result. I like the composition of the shots in this one especially. Sexy tenderness is how the work comes across to me, and I like that idea a lot. One of the interesting things with this photog is that his books always feature one Af-Amer male among the sea of white males. And the Af-Am is always posing on his own. What's up with that? Otherwise, extremely good. 4 stars.
Sensual Men is Mr. Palmer's first book. Very beautiful photos and great models. The fun thing about this is that before his books, if you had asked me if I liked black and white pics at all, I'd have told you no. The answer now? Only if Jeff Palmer does it. i literally don't even want to think of these photos in colour, the whole mood would be ruined. 4 stars
Touch By Jeff Palmer. This was the book Alaana_fair brought my attention to. Its his latest work. In comparison to the earlier books, however, I think it falls short. He repeated what was essentially the same pose too many times for my taste and I started to get a bit bored. However, it was still pretty good, and I'd reccomend it. 3 stars
(Please note that the rating system is out of 5. I rarely give stuff 5 stars, cause I ornery that way. Its got to knock me off my block to get that)
