In this new post racial America
In which Miley Cyrus is a racist little fuck
Naturally, she claims that she is not racist, she was just making a goofy and face, and dammit, she's with GOd! Because claiming to be a Christian stops people from being racist, homophobic, sexist, and all around bigoted. Naturally.
FYI: Also? The presence of an Asain-American in the photo? Does not mitigate its racism.
ADN then, of course, there is Amy Sedaris autographing a book for an Asian American fans

Note the crude sketch of the bucktoothed face and the ching-chong quote.
Naturally, of course, she isn't racist, oh no, she is a comedian, and she is just doing this in a hipsterish ironic way!

Meanwhile, what is up with all the "goofy Asian face" photos? Remember how some sports teams were doing them during the Olympics last year? I'm getting sick, too, of people doing stuff like this, and then claiming it's not racist or offensive. Miley and anyone else pulling crap like this need to take responsibility and apologize. I guess it's the white privilege thing again, where no one wants to admit they did something offensive b/c they don't want to be wrong in any way, shape, or form.
(Michael K. of Dlisted joked that the Asian-American guy in the photo was making a "I'm Miley Cyrus high on moonshine" face, which made me lol.)

Anyhow, I've never cared for Amy Sedaris one way or another, but she's popular on the indie craft scene, which is typically full of young feminists. It's disappointing that they've put a lot of store in someone who spouts this type of crap. But I don't know how publicized her comments are.

Exactly what I was going to say. "I don't like racist people or Orientals" is obviously a joke, writing "ching chong", etc, makes it no longer a joke about racist people but makes HER the racist.

now, does this mean that we can finally, as a society, get over the idea that amy sedaris has any value or interest at all? please? please?

(And they're testing the fire alarms in my building today, too. I DEMAND A DO-OVER.)
