For someone who's a professional writer, the person who kicked off this round did a remarkably shitty job of separating "the technical challenges of creating believable and sympathetic characters" from "the cultural challenge of not writing appropriatively," but reacted reasonably well to getting called on it. Unfortunately, it had already exploded into the usual "STOP HURTING MY FEEWINGS!" from the privileged crowd.
